said Alice Munro. Then she won the Nobel Prize for Literature.
What a beautiful accomplishment for a woman who described herself this way:
“I’m not really an intellectual,” […] “I was an okay housewife but I
wasn’t that great.”
Be inspired to do two things today:
1) Visit your library and take home a book of Alice Munro ;
2) Never think you can’t achieve wonder because you don’t work in a glass skyscraper, because you didn’t go to grad school, because you can’t afford to shop at Nordstrom, because you trip on sidewalks and work at a job that dulls the best parts of your brain.
You’ll find your way when it’s time. Quiet, stunted typing at your desk, a poem born in a coffee shop, walking beneath a tree of squawking crows–the wonder grows in those moments.
So simple, and so uplifting!

Lovely. I just picked up my first Munro the other day at the Seattle Library before her award was announced. Even more excited to begin reading it now!
